Robert De Niro's Oscar-winning portrayal of 1940s boxing legend Jake La Motta
Based on boxer Jake La Motta's autobiography, Martin Scorsese – in close collaboration with Robert De Niro – created one of the 1980s' finest films. The film follows La Motta's boxing career and private life, and shows two completely different people: in the ring he is explosive and almost unbeatable. At home he is a brutal tyrant who demands respect from his male ego.
