With her Christmas concerts she offers not just a tradition, but a break – a place for reflection, stillness and concentration in an otherwise busy time.
With her characteristic presence and a voice that stretches over several octaves, Bakken creates a musical space that moves far beyond the traditional Christmas concert.
The repertoire is personally composed, and encompasses both well-known Christmas songs, Norwegian folk tunes and selected interpretations – always delivered through Bakken's own expression. What could have become sentimental, is in her hands stripped down to something clear, direct and unexpectedly powerful. Even well-known songs get new life through her musicality and uncompromising delivery.
