Rita Eriksen turns 60!
“Why not create my own dream concert for my 60th birthday?” The idea struck Rita like lightning! Imagine celebrating the day doing what she loves most: a dedicated concert with guest artists for family, friends, and an audience that has given her so much joy throughout her career.
She picked up the phone and started calling former and current artist friends who have meant a lot to her. The response was immediate—all six of the first people she asked said YES! That settled it. She would hold the concert, and of course it would be in Kuppelhallen, the same venue where, as a teenager, she took part in an 80s nostalgia show. Nervous but excited, she sang “Stupid Cupid” wearing her aunt’s confirmation dress. She had never performed on a bigger stage or in a finer hall, and she remembers thinking: Will I ever have my own concert here?
Later came the breakthrough alongside her brother Frank in the duo Eriksen. They won the Spellemann Prize for their debut album Two Blue, with hits such as “Coming Down in the Rain”, “The Water is Wide”, “Sønnavindvalsen”, and “Kanarifoggelens Sang”.

Rita Eriksen went on to become one of the country’s most versatile artists: the first winner of Stjernekamp, a singing actress in Skyfri Himmel at Rogaland Theatre, performing countless ABBA shows, folk music collaborations with Ireland’s Dolores Keane, and several solo albums. She has filled Stavanger Concert Hall with her moving tribute to Eva Cassidy, among many highlights. She is also one of Norway’s most in-demand duet singers.
