Sam Grassie
Sam Grassie is a Scottish fingerstyle guitarist and songwriter who has built a strong reputation for masterful guitar playing, honest songwriting and dynamic live performances that move between traditional folk, acoustic blues and American primitive.
His debut album, Where Two Hawks Fly (Broadside Hacks), has received a warm reception from BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Scotland. It has also led to tours with Ryley Walker, Daisy Rickman and Gwenifer Raymond, as well as a US tour with Liam Grant.
The press has been equally enthusiastic. The Guardian wrote that “Jansch’s ghost floats majestically”, CLASH praised his “ferocious individuality”, while MOJO described him as a “meditative transporter”. Grassie has also shared the stage with legends including Jacqui McShee, Ralph McTell and Robert Plant.
This is a concert for anyone inspired by British folk guitar in the tradition of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn – raw, beautiful and uncompromising.
