Tou Trykk invites you to an open, full-day seminar on the artist’s book at Sølvberget. The seminar brings together artists, institutions and professionals working with the book as an artistic medium. These may include unique, hand-bound books, printed publications produced in editions, or books that extend into the surrounding space.
The artist’s book has experienced a revival in recent years, with numerous practitioners in the field, book fairs and specialist bookshops. The seminar offers an up-to-date overview of the field and demonstrates the diverse ways in which artists approach the genre.
Contributors include artists Imi Maufe, Randi Annie Strand and Terje Nicolaisen, as well as Marie Sjøvold from the Plattform programme. Anne Helen Robberstad will present Sølvberget’s commitment to artist’s books, and selected books from the collection will be displayed in the seminar room. The day concludes with a panel discussion featuring Imi Maufe, Marie Sjøvold, Terje Nicolaisen and Geir Egil Bergjord.
The seminar is part of Plattform Tou Trykk: Artist’s Book, a one-year continuing professional development programme for artists. Tou Trykk is the organiser, with Sølvberget Library and Cultural Centre and IDDIS Norwegian Printing Museum as partners. The programme and seminar are supported by Rogaland County Council, Stavanger Municipality and the Arts Council Norway.
Admission: NOK 250; students NOK 200. Lunch is included.
Registration deadline: 1 November. Please register by emailing post@toutrykk.no. Include your name, whether you are a student, and any food allergies.
The day before, on Thursday 5 November, the exhibition PLATTFORM Artist’s Book opens in Tou Trykk’s exhibition space, featuring new works by the ten artists participating in the programme.
You are warmly invited to the opening at 6 pm. The exhibition runs until 15 November.
