The award-winning pianist and composer Øystein Skar has established himself as one of the Nordic region’s distinctive voices in modern piano music. With roots in classical, jazz, and electronic music, Skar creates an expression that is both intimate and deeply personal.
On the albums Hem and Stories for A, both released in 2025, Skar combines pure piano pieces with a unique electronic landscape. The releases have received strong reviews, reached millions of streams, and gained international attention through radio stations such as KEXP and ByteFM.
“I want to create a space where the music can develop freely, and where both I and the audience can experience and explore something new,” says Skar.
Øystein Skar is a former member of the band Highasakite, has collaborated with artists such as Aurora and jazz legend Jon Eberson, and has shared the stage with pianist Joep Beving.
