This Japanese anime film is inspired by Jules Michelet’s 1862 book La Sorcière (English title: Satanism and Witchcraft) and tells the story of Jeanne, who sells her soul to the Devil in late 18th-century France. The film is considered by many to be the most beautiful anime ever made.
