"Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?"

San Francisco, early 1970s. The psychopathic sniper Scorpio terrorises the city with ransom demands and threats of further killings. The police assign their most fearless and uncompromising detective, Harry Callahan, better known as Dirty Harry. Armed with his iconic .44 Magnum and quotable lines, Callahan hunts the killer while challenging both bureaucracy and the limits of the justice system.

Dirty Harry became a milestone in American cinema and marked the beginning of a new type of police film—gritty, urban, and morally ambiguous. Director Don Siegel and actor Clint Eastwood created a character who was both praised and criticised: an antihero operating on the edge of the law, yet seen by many as a necessary response to the rising crime and public distrust of authorities.

The film was inspired by the real-life Zodiac killer and reflects a period marked by social unrest, the Vietnam War, and civil rights struggles. Andy Robinson’s unsettling portrayal of Scorpio adds intense tension, and Bruce Surtees’ cinematography gives San Francisco a dark and threatening atmosphere.
