A dystopian science-fiction film based on a novel by Ray Bradbury. The title refers to the temperature at which paper begins to burn. In a totalitarian society where books are forbidden, a fireman begins to question the purpose of his work.
The acclaimed French director François Truffaut was initially uninterested in science fiction as a genre, but changed his mind after reading Bradbury’s novel. He spent several years securing funding for the film adaptation.
