Stavanger Gospel Company’s Christmas concerts have become a highly cherished tradition. For the past 15 years, the choir, together with guest artists such as Carola, Ole Edvard Antonsen, Ingebjørg Bratland, Halvdan Sivertsen, Anita Skorgan, Sigvart Dagsland, Ole Paus, Heine Totland, Egil Svartdahl, Tomas Sjödin and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, have given audiences unforgettable experiences—ranging from grandiose to intimate and minimalist. Laughter and tears. Sold-out concerts with up to 2,600 attendees have created a sense of closeness and atmosphere that audiences and artists can truly feel. These concerts have become some of the most popular Christmas events in the Stavanger region.
This year, the choir will once again hold its Christmas concert at Stavanger Concert Hall, Kuppelhallen. The theme of the concert is “Longing”. Once again, the choir will be joined by outstanding guests: none other than Svein Tindberg and a large symphonic ensemble conducted by Bjarte Mo from the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. Svein Tindberg is one of Norway’s most acclaimed actors, with performances at Det Norske Teatret and on stages across the country. His hit productions, including The Gospel of Mark, The Acts of the Apostles, Abraham’s Children, Esau and Jacob, and The God Particle, have all sold out wherever they have been performed, attracting tens of thousands of spectators. He is a fantastic storyteller, as well as an author and director.
Tindberg’s unique storytelling ability will, of course, lend a warm and personal touch to the concert. And when the theme is “Longing”, nothing fits better than the sensitive tones of the symphony orchestra.
Stavanger Gospel Company—together with guests, band, and soloists—will give audiences moments and experiences that span the entire range of emotions, always with the message of Christmas at the very centre. The repertoire ranges from traditional to newly composed Christmas songs.
