Two masterpieces fill the concert hall with virtuosity and vibrant orchestral brilliance tonight.
Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto is one of the most demanding and magnificent works in the repertoire. After the interval, we encounter Stravinsky’s Petrushka, the vivid and rhythmic ballet about the tragic puppet Petrushka. With sparkling orchestral colours and driving energy, the work is regarded as one of the most groundbreaking orchestral works of the 20th century.
