Experience a concert where Mozart and Beethoven meet in a programme filled with elegance, drama and virtuosity. Kristian Bezuidenhout appears as both soloist and conductor, leading the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra through two key works from the piano repertoire.
The evening opens with the overture to Mozart’s Der Schauspiel-Direktor, a lively and humorous introduction full of sparkling energy and elegant orchestral writing.
Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor follows. One of the composer’s most dramatic piano concertos, it is characterised by striking contrasts between darkness and light, intensity and lyrical beauty. Piano and orchestra engage in close dialogue throughout, combining virtuosity with great expressive power.
The concert continues with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a work that marks a clear step towards a more dramatic and personal musical world. Classical form meets greater intensity and powerful expression, while the piano takes on a prominent and virtuosic role.
Kristian Bezuidenhout performs both piano concertos and conducts the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra from the piano. This creates a direct musical dialogue between soloist and orchestra, connecting Mozart’s classical elegance with Beethoven’s more intense expression.
