Erik Waldejer has long dreamed of bringing a choir concert to Ølhallene – a setting for something beautiful and different. Gunnar Roalkvam has written texts on the theme of “longing”, with music composed by Erik Waldejer. The programme features a presentation by Roalkvam alongside a choral concert of four songs exploring the theme.
Composer Tord Kalvenes found inspiration for the work Trains after hearing two trains at Legoland in Billund in the summer of 2024. The distinctive sounds of the trains, and the way the sound changed as they moved in relation to one another, formed the basis for the idea. The concept was later developed further in collaboration with Stavanger Vocalensemble, bringing the work to life.
Welcome to an evening of resonance, featuring newly composed music by Tord Kalvenes and Erik Waldejer, alongside texts by Gunnar Roalkvam. The atmosphere is sure to linger long after the final note.
Stavanger Vocalensemble is a chamber choir established in February 1993, consisting of around 30 experienced singers. The choir strives for a high musical standard and works seriously with a wide range of music from different periods. The repertoire spans the classical tradition, from early music to contemporary works, with elements of folk music from Norway and abroad.
In addition to its own concert productions, the choir regularly collaborates with professional soloists, musicians and arrangers. The ensemble also works with other choirs and has taken part in several competitions in Norway and abroad, achieving strong results.
