Stein Torleif Bjella heads out on an autumn tour with his new album in the horse trailer!
Following a hugely successful album launch, Stein Torleif Bjella and his outstanding band are hitting the road again in autumn 2026. The album Velkomen skodde has been hailed as a career highlight by an unusually strong and united group of critics, earning top marks and praise for Bjella as one of the most important songwriters of our time.
Velkomen skodde marks a new musical chapter for Bjella, who has always been a master at portraying the intimate and recognisable. The album opens new doors, both musically and thematically, with warm influences from Latin American traditions. It also features an impressive line-up of fellow musicians and international contributors, including Marc Ribot and Daniel Lanois. Dagens Næringsliv’s Audun Vinger even described Bjella as “Our new musical citizen of the world” in his review of the album.
The audience response has been equally enthusiastic. In recent years, Bjella has reached an increasingly broad audience, not least through his participation in the TV2 hit Hver gang vi møtes. His concerts now attract both loyal listeners and new fans.
The autumn tour will celebrate Velkomen skodde, while also inviting audiences into a truly distinctive musical universe. New songs that have already made a deep impression will be performed alongside the songs that have established Bjella as a leading figure in Norwegian folk music. He will be joined by his regular band: Eirik Øien on bass, Kenneth Kapstad on drums and Geir Sundstøl on string instruments, bringing the songs to life in dynamic and captivating performances.
Stein Torleif Bjella is known for giving a voice to quiet lives, longing, hope and the unspoken. On stage, he combines thoughtfulness with warmth and down-to-earth humour, creating concerts that touch both the heart and the funny bone.
For those already familiar with Bjella, this is a long-awaited continuation. For new audiences, it is a rare opportunity to discover one of Norway’s finest storytellers up close.
As tradition dictates, a fruit basket will still be raffled off at every concert!
