As part of the Christmas Town celebrations and the Christmas Exhibition at Skrivergården, Stille Grender is coming to Egersund to perform its Christmas concert!
Eva, Morten, Simen and Thomas love Christmas. And they love jazz.
In 2022, after performing their traditional Christmas concert in Stavanger for several consecutive years, the four musicians recorded a long-awaited Christmas album featuring their own distinctive arrangements of some of the finest Christmas songs. The album was released by Grappa Musikkforlag and received outstanding reviews. It was named Christmas Album of the Year by the renowned music magazine Lira and was also listed among the year's best Christmas albums by Dag og Tid and Dagens Næringsliv.
All physical copies sold out in shops throughout December that year, and the album was streamed more than 50,000 times across various streaming services in its first week.
In the years since, the group has released several singles, which are frequently played on NRK P2 Jazz every Christmas. For the past four years, they have also filled St Petri Church in Stavanger with their concerts. In 2024, their performance received the highest possible rating — six out of six — from Stavanger Aftenblad. Last year, they released their second album, Svart senker natten seg (Black Descends upon the Night), which once again received rave reviews both in Norway and abroad.
As darkness falls once more, the quartet will hit the road across Western Norway, arriving in Egersund for the first time on 13 December to perform at Skrivergården!
As Leif Tore Lindø of Stavanger Aftenblad wrote about their 2022 album launch concert:
“If you go and aren't satisfied, I'll Vipps you the price of your ticket.”
It's unpretentious. It's atmospheric. It's playful.
It's vocals, guitar, trumpet and double bass.
It's tradition and improvisation.
It's familiar and unfamiliar.
And it's from all of us to all of you.
The line-up
- Eva Bjerga Haugen — vocals and piano
- Morten Askildsen — guitars
- Simen Kiil Halvorsen — trumpet
- Thomas Bang — double bass
