Strømklang presents Espen Friberg at Folken on 22 January
Friberg is an artist and musician based in Hvitsten. His music is often described as meditative, exploratory, playful, and immediate, and he employs a distinctive collage technique (both in his visual art and music).
Trucks, rubbish bins, flowing streams, lemonade, horses, and wandering mountains find their place among slow melodies, scraping, sine tones, and basslines. Dissonances and harmonies merge in smooth transitions and sudden stops, while an electronic flute sings and the sun rises.
Friberg creates his music using a modular synthesiser, field recordings, tape loops, and other dying electronics. His debut album, Sun Soon, was released on Hubro in 2022. In 2025, he released the album Flutter Ridder together with Jenny Berger Myhre. Friberg also runs the small experimental record label Take It Easy Policy with Emil Høgset.
Strømklang is a concert series for electronic music in Stavanger. The concerts are held at Folken and curated by John Derek Bishop. Strømklang aims to give the city’s residents the opportunity to experience innovative and exciting electronic music.
The concert series is supported by the Arts Council Norway, Stavanger Municipality, and Rogaland County.
