Lungegaardens Musikkorps invites you to a concert filled with rhythm, colour and dance in many forms.
On the programme are among others Márquez's energetic Danzón No. 2, Johan de Meij's arrangement of Shostakovich's Jazz Suite No. 2 and Johan Halvorsen's Bojarenes inntogsmarsj.
As soloist we welcome Eirik Baardsen Haaland, principal horn of Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, in Wolfgang Plagge's concerto for horn and wind band.
Two percussionists from our own ranks also offer virtuosity in Czardas for vibraphone and marimba. At the grand piano we find Frode Skag Storheim, who also guides us through the concert as a performing host.
Eirik Baardsen Haaland grew up in a brass band family in Sandnes and studied at Norges Musikkhøgskole in Oslo and Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. He is regarded as one of the foremost horn players of his generation, and is regularly invited to play with the most prominent orchestras in Europe. Since August 2024 Eirik has been principal horn of Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and before that he worked ten years in the same capacity at Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.
Frode Skag Storheim is a pianist and cultural communicator with a degree from Griegakademiet in Bergen. He is also a regular programme writer for Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and debuted in 2025 as an author with the biography of the painter Hans Dahl. With his versatile and accessible communication style he is a highly sought-after soloist and speaker.
Welcome to a varied and energetic concert with LMK.
