The Norwegian Children’s Museum turns 25!
Welcome to the opening of the anniversary week, packed with exciting events and celebrations for children and adults alike.
The official opening will be conducted by Stavanger’s Deputy Mayor, Henrik Halleland.
This will be followed by a performance featuring Gunnar Roalkvam’s texts about Toffa, a boy who grew up in the eastern part of Stavanger in the 1950s. Taking part in the performance are Gunnar Roalkvam, Gretelill Tangen and students from Bergeland Upper Secondary School.
The music album Toffa (1980) was the debut album by troubadour and artist Svein Tang Wa. The lyrics were written by Gunnar Roalkvam, and the album is regarded as the first concept album from Rogaland. It tells the story of the childhood of the fictional Stavanger boy “Toffaen” in the post-war period, offering a historical portrait of a city caught between the old canning industry and the emerging oil age.
Don’t miss Gunnar Roalkvam’s talk ahead of the opening, where he looks back at childhood in the 1950s.
