How far back does whaling in Norway go, and how was whaling practised in the earliest times?

Archaeologist Svein Vatsvåg Nielsen takes us far back in time, showing how people in Norway hunted whales 5,000 years ago. Marine archaeologist Elling Utvik Wammer researches the significance of whaling in Western Norway during the Middle Ages and will share findings from an ongoing research project into the spectacular whaling practices of Øygarden.

With: Elling Utvik Wammer (Norwegian Maritime Museum) and Svein Vatsvåg Nielsen (Stavanger Maritime Museum)
