This evening is dedicated to the best songs from the legendary Bergen band Pogo Pops.
The story began in 1987 when Frank Hammersland, Viggo Krüger and Nikolai Hamre formed the trio Doomsville Boys. A few years later the band evolved into Pogo Pops and became a central part of the Bergen Wave in the early 1990s, alongside bands such as Barbie Bones and Chocolate Overdose. Through four albums Pogo Pops established themselves as one of the country's foremost pop bands, known for their melodic, guitar-based pop rock. The album Pop Trip was nominated for the Spellemannpris in 1992, and the following year the band won the Spellemannpris in the pop category. Pogo Pops also achieved significant success in Japan, where they completed three tours.
Following Frank Hammersland's passing in 2022 the remaining members, Viggo Krüger and Nikolai Hamre, have chosen to carry on the music and the legacy of the band. With them they have Rune Solberg, a long-time friend of Pogo Pops, who contributes on bass and vocals.
This will be an evening in honour of Frank Hammersland, Pogo Pops and the timeless songs that have left their mark on several generations of music lovers. As special guests Endre Nordvik and Dominic O'Fahey also appear, the latter was a regular member of the band in the period 1990–1995.
