— A new interpretation of music from earlier times.
Experience a masterful meeting between two of the most distinctive voices in the Norwegian jazz scene, in a program devoted to the classical bedrock: Johann Sebastian Bach. Chorales such as “Jesu, meine Freude” and “Auf meinen lieben Gott” form the starting point for new interpretations, as the duo invites the audience into their rich and varied musical universe.

Bach’s timeless melodies run through the concert like recurring mantras, while the improvisations open up a range of musical directions. From Nordic folk inflections and impressionistic soundscapes to more open musical landscapes inspired by gospel as well as Persian and Egyptian tonalities, Tord Gustavsen and Trygve Seim bring us close to the message of the chorales through instrumental interpretation — resulting in a unique, genre-crossing concert in the Spring Main Series. Welcome!
