Folk, fiddles and foot-stomping on the dance floor.

For the third year in a row, the front figure of Valkyrien Allstars returns to Bergen with traditional folk music and dance moves, this time at Kulturhuset i Bergen.

Tuva Syvertsen’s nightclub concept grew out of her own wish to be able to go out and dance to folk music on a regular Saturday night, and this was how Blodklubben began in Oslo. The concept has been central to a vibrant folk music wave, and the monthly events still fills the dance floors, inspiring similar gatherings across Norway.

‘It should be possible to get to know our shared cultural heritage in an inclusive environment,’ Syvertsen said when Dagsrevyen visited the club night at the Bergen International Festival last year.

The phenomenon has also reached beyond Norway’s borders, when The Guardian in the spring of 2025 described how ‘Gen Z rebooted old-school Norwegian music’, where Syvertsen explained the club’s success like this: ‘Young people feel that the world is unsteady as it is and they seek something real, something warm and close to them. So maybe that has something to do with it.’

Dance is at the heart of the club nights, with instruction in traditional dance steps you can try out on the dance floor.
