Undergrünnen blends 1960s psychedelic rock, Afrobeat, jazz, and minimalist new wave, combined with Pål Jackman’s searing lyrics about the existential nonsense of life and the unbearable indifference of existence.
In other words, it still sounds unmistakably like Undergrünnen. As one reviewer commented at a previous turning point: it would be as if Paul Simon had replaced Ladysmith Black Mambazo with The Monks or MC5 on the Graceland album.
The band has been nominated for the Spellemann Award for both of its album releases.
