Remember, remember, the fifth of November …
V for Vendetta is written by the Wachowski sisters and directed by James McTeigue, second unit director on the Matrix trilogy. The film is based on Alan Moore and David Lloyd's iconic graphic novel.
In a dystopian future we follow Evey (Natalie Portman), a production assistant living under a totalitarian regime. After a terrifying attack she is rescued by V (Hugo Weaving), a mysterious man who takes the law into his own hands and uses violence in the fight for freedom.
With themes such as intolerance, surveillance and suppression of dissent, V for Vendetta is just as relevant today. The film's message is not anarchy, but rather the enduring power of ideas. Even in the face of oppression, hope can survive.
