This spring, Velan released his fifth solo album, Å hørra te, with the Storhaug district serving as its backdrop. The album, centred on the theme of belonging, is both a tribute to the local and familiar and an expression of concern about what happens when places lose their unique character. The album launch concert at the Literature House in Stavanger was a great success, and now Velan is coming to Martinique.
The concert will be performed solo, featuring acoustic guitar on some songs and piano on others. Audiences can expect warm singer-songwriter melodies, thoughtful and witty lyrics, and a stage presence that moves effortlessly between the intimate, the humorous and the spontaneous.
Velan has previously received praise from Stavanger Aftenblad, been playlisted on NRK P1 Rogaland, and received support from the Norwegian Songwriters’ Fund for his songwriting. Stavanger Aftenblad’s Geir Flatøe described him as:
“The kind of artist I wish every possible success, while secretly wanting to keep all to myself.”
