This summer, the Archaeological Museum is bringing the Viking Age to life with two new attractions from a fascinating period in history. Are you ready for a real Viking adventure for the whole family? Discover myths, magic and Viking life through games and activities in "Yggdrasil", and get to know the Vikings in the exhibition "World of the Vikings", opening on 3 June.

- Try your hand as an archaeologist and wash Viking finds from the water channel.
- Test your courage in sword fighting.
- Take part in fun activities.

The entire opening time is packed with experiences:
- Explore the interactive exhibition "Yggdrasil" – dress up and learn authentic Viking skills.
- Play the exciting Viking board game Hnefatafl.
- Go on a treasure hunt through the exhibitions.

Discover the History of Rogaland
Travel through thousands of years of history. Wander through fascinating exhibitions covering Rogaland’s past, from the end of the Ice Age to the Middle Ages.
Ice Age → Stone Age → Bronze Age → Iron Age → Viking Age → Middle Ages
ICE AGE
Meet the world’s oldest polar bear, which ended its days in this region at the end of the Ice Age, in The Polar Bear from Finnøy.
STONE AGE
See Vistegutten, the 15-year-old boy from Viste Cave who died 8,200 years ago, in Meet the Human. Explore a Stone Age settlement and everyday discoveries in Finding Home.
BRONZE AGE
Step into the world of the Bronze Age woman, with finds that reveal myths, mystery and sun worship, in Myths and Mysteries of the Bronze Age.
IRON AGE
Discover high-quality goldsmithing and textile craftsmanship from a remarkable period of Rogaland’s prehistory in Warrior Smith and Housewife.
VIKING AGE (Late Iron Age)
Welcome to the Vikings’ world in the spectacular new exhibition World of the Vikings.
MIDDLE AGES
Find out what has been hidden inside Stavanger Cathedral in Secrets of the Cathedral.
