Join a practical and exploratory workshop exploring drag and gender expression, challenging norms and power structures through reflection, humour and creative expression. Participants will be introduced to drag as a space of freedom, using transformation and humour as tools for exploring identity and responding to narrow-mindedness with vulnerability.
The workshop is led by Sofie Søndervik Sæther, musician and drag artist behind the project Deathman. Drawing on personal experience, the workshop offers reflections and simple exercises exploring identity and alter egos. Participation is entirely optional, and no one is expected to perform.
Venue and time: Maskinhallen at Tou, Friday 19 September at 7 pm.
Included: The workshop ticket also provides entry to a concert by Teddy, starting in the same venue shortly afterwards.
About the organisers
The event is a collaboration between AKKS Stavanger and Kapittel 2026 – Stavanger International Festival of Literature and Freedom of Expression.
With this year's festival theme, SEX, Kapittel explores how sexuality, power and identity shape society and individuals. This aligns with the work of AKKS Stavanger, which has spent 30 years promoting equality and gender diversity in the music sector. The organisation works to strengthen the representation of girls, trans people and non-binary people on and behind the stage.
The collaboration invites audiences to explore gender identity and experience the power of raw musical expression.
