The road between Værlandet and Bulandet is a popular cycle tour. From the 6 bridges connecting the island communities, you have a grand overview to both the open sea and hundreds of islands. After biking from Værlandet to Hardbakke it is possible to go Island Hopping!
Island hopping by bike
You can travel by ferry from Askvoll to Værlandet, about 1 hour, with beautiful view to both the mountain Alden and the island Atløy. Rent a bike at the grocery store on the ferry quay in Værlandet and enjoy the 10,8 km bicycle ride to Bulandet. You can drop off your bike at the grocery store at Bulandet harbour. The bike ride over the bridges can be physically challenging but gives you fantastic view!

Island hopping with the local post boat
(Mid-June to Mid-August)
After biking it is possible in the summertime to go Island Hopping between Bulandet and Solund! The island hopping tour is available on request for the rest of the year - please contact mail@fjordkysten.no for more information.
Traveling by boat gets you close to the unique and spectacular scenery on the coast. The boat makes a stop at the historical trade post Gåsvær, a small island far out at sea. Here you will meet Anne Marie – a local farmer, politician and tourist host. It is accommodation on the island, so if you want you can stay overnight.
After the stop at Gåsvær the boat continues to Hardbakke. Due to a limited number of seats on the postal boat, it is highly recommended to buy your ticket online in advance or make a reservation by ringing +47 5774 3000 no later than the day before.
Island hopping - a way of life
We recommend booking accommodation in advance and taking the trip over several days. Start the trip by spending some days in Værlandet and Bulandet, before you go island hopping to Solund and spend some time here.
