Zum Hauptinhalt

The tour takes you from Bergen harbor with a view of UNESCO World Heritage Site Bryggen and the wooden buildings along the city fjord. Heading north in Byfjorden, you can observe the development of the settlements as the city expanded. Further along, the tour passes the well-known industrial town of Salhus before crossing the Nordhordland Bridge, which was once the world's longest floating bridge.

The journey continues around Bergen’s northernmost point towards the Sørfjord, where the landscape begins to change. The nature becomes gradually wilder, the mountains taller, and you get a stronger fjord experience. The tour then passes the industrial town of Ytre Arna and the beautiful village of Garnes.

On the port side, you will soon spot Havråtunet, an old cluster farm where traditional farming is still practiced.

Further inland, you will come across the idyllic village of Bruvik, where you can make a stop at the local shop to buy "skillingsboller", a typical cinnamon bun from Bergen. It’s a perfect opportunity for a nice lunch with tea and coffee.

The nature becomes more dramatic, the fjord narrower, and the mountains higher. At Stamnes, you will see the world-famous Vosso salmon river, where the tour makes a detour to the spectacular Hesjedalsfossen waterfall behind the stone bridge before rounding the northern end of Osterøy.

In this idyllic area, you can also see the old salmon towers – the only place in the world where salmon were caught in this way.

The course is then set southward through Osterfjorden, first navigating between small islets in a beautiful cultural landscape before the fjord opens up on the way back to Bergen. You will pass the more than 500-year-old Hamre Church, which has a history spanning over 1,000 years. If desired, you can arrange with the captain for a stop here.

As you approach Byfjorden, you will see the city nestled between the seven mountains. For old sailors, the approach to Bergen was one of the two most beautiful harbor approaches in the world, and it’s easy to see why as you get closer.
