Sunnhordland is the destination for those seeking powerful nature experiences in the mountains, on the glacier, by the fjord, in the archipelago, unique cultural attractions, local culinary treasures, and hosts who are proud representatives of the region.

In January 2019, Visit Sunnhordland began the process of becoming certified as a Sustainable Destination, and phase 1 was approved in June 2019 with support from the former Hordaland County Council. Sunnhordland completed and was approved as a Sustainable Destination in the summer of 2021.
In the work towards sustainable tourism, the goal is to ensure that tourism takes care of the environment and local culture, with the aim of creating a positive impact and development for the local community, tourism businesses, and tourists.
The branding is a tool to help everyone in the tourism industry collaborate in managing tourism development in the right direction. This helps preserve our natural resources and ensure good, safe jobs.
In May 2019, Visit Sunnhordland was certified as an Eco-Lighthouse. With this, Visit Sunnhordland can document that strict requirements in areas such as work environment, procurement, energy, waste, emissions, and aesthetics have been met.
