The main focus of Haugalandmuseet is the sea, which you will notice if you visit the various branches of the museum. The sea has always been the most important livelihood in the region; it is its very lifeblood. The sea has also been an inspiration to artists, an escape route during the dramatic years of war and an asset for our modern society. The sea, ships and herring are the region’s cultural heritage, which is Haugalandmuseet’s focus. In addition to permanent exhibitions, several of the museums also arrange activities for children, workshops and other cultural events.
Haugalandmuseet museum
Haugalandmuseet is a regional art and cultural history museum for northern Rogaland, and it owns and operates a total of nine museums in Haugalandet. They convey everything from war history at Arquebus to art at Haugesund’s billedgalleri.
