The first part of the walk will take you around the Bergenhus Fortress. Here you will see the medieval buildings Håkons Hall and the Rosenkrantz tower while learning about 1,000 years of Bergen history – the Golden Age, Danish & Swedish unions, independence & Nazi occupation. The comprehensive walk around the fortress will also provide you with inside into Bergen's unique culture and heritage.

We then walk to Bryggen, Bergen's UNESCO World Heritage Site. This has been a trading harbour since Bergen was founded in 1070 and was the mainstay of the German Hanseatic League for 400 years. These preserved wooden structures are the best surviving medieval pier in all of Northern Europe.

The last part of the tour will take you inside the Bryggens Museum, with an included entrance and visit. Your local guide will introduce you to the museum, explain the archaeological excavations, and show you some of the museum's highlights. A major highlight are the runic inscriptions – small carvings on wood with messages from 900 years ago. You can also see finds from Bergen's trading heritage. The tour ends in the museum, giving you as much time as you like to explore independently.

The pacing of the walk is easy, with no uphill or stairs. The walk is also mostly undercover, making it perfect for those rainy days. The walk goes for 90 minutes and shows you all the major highlights of Bergen.
