In 2017, archaeologists uncovered the walls of a magnificent King's Hall at Avaldsnes. For hundreds of years, the ruin had lain here as a well-preserved secret, hidden 2 meters below the ground. The King's Hall is dated to around the year 1300 and has had a direct connection to St. Olav's Church.
Take a unique sneak peek into the work building, which conceals the main part of the ruin. Inside here, the painstaking work of conserving the ancient walls is ongoing. Our guides have a lot of exciting knowledge to share with you. Not only about the appearance and function of the King's Hall back in the Middle Ages, but also about today's work and plans for the ruin.
