The Faculty of Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen, presents new work by student artists working in the medium of textiles.

The Faculty of Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen, presents new works by art students who in different ways relate to and employ textile techniques, materials and vocabularies.

The textile focus area at KMD has a diverse and vibrant community of students, teaching staff and researchers who together explore a wide range of topics within the field of textiles.

The exhibition is composed of students from all study year groups from first year Bachelor, to Masters, to PHD.

Together, the work represents wide ranging modes of expression - analogue, digital, craft-based, conceptual and political, executed in techniques such as fabric dyeing, embroidery, knitting, weaving, printing, painting, manipulation and more. Through these practice methodologies works explore and express thematics of communication, gender and identity, nature, representation, materials and medium alchemy, and broad visual traditions.

The exhibition - curated by Professor Tim Parry-Williams, artist and alumnus Daniela Bergschneider, Associate Professor Ingrid Aarset, and PHD-fellow Suzanna James - also celebrates and continues a long tradition of collaboration with the Textile Industry Museum.

Exhibition opening: 14. april, 14.00

Closed 1. may and 9. may
