At the very edge of the Romsdal coast in Hustadvika lies the authentic fishing village of Bud. You will find charming fishermen's cabins and boathouses in the old harbor. And you can stroll down the winding streets between old houses – each with a story to tell about a rugged coastal life.

  • Did you know that Bud was one of the largest trading posts between Bergen and Trondheim in the 16th century?

Take your time to experience the coastal culture and the activites that Bud has to offer.

Ergan Coastal Fort

Ergan Coastal Fort is a part of The Romsdal Museum. Learn about the war history through this exhibition built around the German coastal fortifications from World War II, as well as in the Coastal Museum housing a cultural-historical exhibition in two floors.

View point

Ergan is located on the highest point of Bud and is an old coastal fort from World War II. Standing on top of Ergan will give you panoramic view from the Hustadvika sea in the north, further towards Bjørnsund and Ona, south towards Sunnmøre, inland towards the fjord to Ormen Lange on Aukra, and finally many of the beautiful mountain peaks in Hustadvika.

Activities in Bud

For those who want an even better overview, a hike to Gulberget provides fantastic views despite its 160 meters above sea level.

The coastal path in Bud is a 7 km long exercise round that goes through very varied terrain at the foot of Gulberget, then out towards the open sea with views of the shipping lane and Hustadvika. The last part winds through the fishing village between residential houses, fishermen's cabins in the harbor, and through Bud Camping. A great trip with many rest areas, information signs, and lean-tos along the way. Several hikers also make a stop at the fish restaurant Bryggjen or at Bud Kiosk and Eatery, which offers tasty, homemade food - often based on catch from the sea outside Bud. In the season, grocery stores are open on Sundays.

What is a visit to a fishing village without going out on the sea? Rent a boat or join a guided fishing trip with Bud Camping.

In the heart of Bud lies a bird cliff that hosts a colony of kittiwakes during the breeding season. This is a favorite attraction for photographers.
