Preikestolhytta and Vatnegården are part of Preikestolen Basecamp, located just 40 minutes from Stavanger.
Preikestolhytta
Preikestolhytta is a charming, older building that was constructed by the Stavanger Tourist Association in 1949. The cabin is simpler and more affordable than Preikestolen Fjellstue. Here you can stay in cosy rooms with two or four beds. The building has a large fireplace room, shared toilets and showers on each floor, as well as showers in the basement.
Vatnegården
Vatnegården, dating from 1920, is the oldest building on the farm. The old building has a total of 16 beds, divided between two large family rooms. The rooms have access to a cosy kitchen with a dining area, oven, dishwasher and refrigerator. Shared toilets and sinks are located in the common area between the rooms. Shower facilities and a drying room are located in the sanitary building next to Vatnegården. You can rent both rooms and have the entire cabin to yourself. Dogs are allowed.
Preikestolen Base Camp
There are several accommodation options in the area. You can also choose hotel standard at Preikestolen Fjellstue or you can stay at Hikers' Camp, Vanncampen or Vetlebu.
For most people, a visit to the basecamp is not complete without a trip to the iconic Preikestolen. Other exciting hiking opportunities in the area include Moslifjellet, Rindatrollet and Gryteknuten.
Refsvatnet has beautiful sandy beaches where you can take a dip, and you can rent canoes, kayaks, SUP boards and floating saunas.
There is an 18-hole frisbee golf course in the area. The first 9 holes are suitable for families and beginners, while the rest are for more advanced players.
Preikestolen Basecamp has excellent meeting rooms. Groups can book outdoor team-building activities.
