All rooms here at Visnes Hotel are a little different, in nostalgic style from the 1920s. Many of the rooms also have balconies, and all rooms have a private bathroom.
Breakfast is served in the historic dining room, and if you want, you can bring a packed lunch with you for the day. There are many activities and hikes to choose, close to us. The hosts will be happy to help you planning the day and adjust to your personal wishes and the weather conditions.
The hotel is located a short walk from Stryn center, and to Loen and Olden it is a short distance by car. Here, you will find famous destinations such as Lodalen, Raksætra, Loen Skylift, Kjenndalsbreen, Briksdalsbreen, Skålatårnet, and many nice hikes! You will find shorter and longer trips; we will help you planning.
For day trips by car, we recommend hitting the road out towards the coast, to Selje or Bremanger. Or north towards Sunnmøre and Geiranger. Here you can experience a coastal nature that is completely different from what we have inside the fjord!
With Visnes Hotel as your base, you can experience a lot, and well back at the hotel in the evening, you can enjoy a local drink at the balcony and a homemade dinner in our restaurant.
Summer Café at the Hotel!
This year, we invite you to enjoy our summer café at the hotel. It’s the 175th anniversary of Visnes Hotel. We offer coffee and cakes served daily in the lounges and on the terrace. You can also experience an art exhibition and sale featuring the artist Harald Ulstein.
The exhibition of Harald Ulstein’s original paintings opens on Sunday, June 1st at 1 PM. On this day, there will also be an opportunity to meet the artist.

Welcome to Visnes Hotel in Stryn! Visnes hotel is a historic hotel with 19 rooms, located just outside the centre of Stryn. Here we are, with many famous attractions in short distance from the hotel. The hotel is a member of Historic hotels and restaurants, and we work hard to provide personal service and serving of authentic, local food. The hotel has been operating here since 1850, and the hotel building, which is protected, is a visit back in time, but with today's comfort. In 2020, the old barn in the yard was also renovated, and here we also have guestrooms, and a cafeteria and meeting room in ground floor.
