Tore Renberg is one of Norway's most acclaimed and prolific authors. His books have been translated into many languages, and he has received numerous awards, including for Kompani Orheim (the Brage Prize) and Tollak til Ingeborg (the Booksellers' Prize and the Nynorsk Literature Prize).

With his novel Du er så lys (2016), he discovered how natural and liberating it was for him to write in Nynorsk. From then on, Renberg saw himself as a bilingual author. In the autumn of 2025, he surprised everyone with his first collection of poetry, Øie=Viise, 1720 og andre dikt (Øye=Viise, 1720 and other poems), in which he presents 101 portraits written in a variety of language forms: from Nynorsk and Bokmål to older Danish-Norwegian and dialects. This flexibility demonstrates his desire to explore language from many angles – and times.

During Garborgdagar, Tore Renberg will read from his new book and talk about his writing, poetry and language. The discussion will be led by author and lecturer Erling Andre Flote.

This event will be in Norwegian
