Their Christmas album Barnet i krybben (The Child in the Manger) was a breath of fresh air with its gentle, unpolished and personal Christmas universe, generating excitement and positive reviews in the national press. Now the duo from Western Norway is ready to create a magical Christmas concert experience for audiences with their beautiful reinterpretations of well-known Christmas songs and their own compositions that have become Christmas classics for many, such as Fangens julekveld, Julens sang and The Shepherd Song.
The Garness Sisters
The Garness sisters have become known for their playful musicality on stage. After completing an extended duo tour this spring with music from their recently released album Restart, the sisters are eager to explore their Christmas repertoire in a duo format. ‘Imagine that two people can make so much music,’ is a comment often heard from the audience. The sisters produce rich soundscapes and great dynamic variation with acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, ukulele, harp and glockenspiel, but there is also plenty of room for the twin sisters' harmonious vocals and magical stripped-down moments. The hopeful and powerful message of great joy for all people, Barnet i krybben (The Child in the Manger), is central to Garness' Christmas concerts.
Impressive experience
Garness has appeared on TV programmes such as I kveld, Beat for Beat, Absolutt Norsk, Kjempesjansen, God morgen, Norge, Håp i ei gryte and Jul på Slottet. They have collaborated with artists such as Marit Larsen, Sigvart Dagsland, Jonas Alaska and Odd Nordstoga. They were introduced to a large proportion of the Norwegian population when they held the traditional Christmas concert Kvelden før kvelden (The Evening Before Christmas) on NRK1 on Christmas Eve. Garness has released five studio albums, the latest of which, Restart, was released on 21 February this year. The single Dele drømmen from this album has been listed on NRK P1 since the turn of the year and has been played frequently on the A-list on the same channel this spring.
