But Erlend Skomsvoll has never had time to delve deeply into the piano trio format.
Now he is clearing his desk, stepping down for a while from writing for large orchestras, and focusing all his time and creativity on piano playing and trio work.
He has a unique ensemble with him in double bassist Roger Morland and drummer Knut Aalefjær, who combine jazz and classical style understanding at a high artistic level, which in addition to constituting a tight and fine jazz ensemble also gives Skomsvoll the opportunity to include the harmonic and melodic phrasing of classical music into an otherwise rich jazz musical expression.
Roger Morland has been a permanent employee as bassist in the Norwegian Wind Ensemble since 2003. His job there, in addition to being active as a freelancer on the side, has meant that he has worked with countless different musicians in many genres.
Knut Aalefjær is a trained classical percussionist and is among the drummers in the country with the broadest experience at the top level, with experience from jazz, classical, pop, contemporary music, folk music and combinations of these.
The concert is a collaboration between Jazzsirkelen and Parken Kulturhus.
