Farao is the musical alter ego of Norwegian producer and vocalist Kari Jahnsen. She creates a lush sonic universe where soft 1990s R&B, sensual 1980s disco, ambient spiritual jazz and shimmering layers of sitars are woven together. With warm, detailed production, an extensive collection of vintage synths and distinctive vocal arrangements, Farao’s live performance draws the audience into a dreamy, rhythmic landscape - think Janet Jackson meets Alice Coltrane. After captivating audiences at Roskilde, SXSW, Øya and Green Man, Farao delivers a concert experience that feels both intimate and grand, contemporary and timeless.
