Malmin is a duo that has immersed itself in folk music from Rogaland, and in this session will focus specifically on Jæren, while also connecting it to fiddle player Arne Garborg.

The audience will encounter folk tunes with roots stretching far back in time, so far that they must be played on microtonal instruments to bring out the old tone – tones that lie outside the tempered system. The duo consists of Olav Christer Rossebø, known from Bergen Mandolinband and Lady Hardanger, and Anders Sundsteigen Hana, the driving force behind the folk music club Gorrlaus in Stavanger.

The event is part of Garborgdagar 2026.

After the lecture, Malmin will play dance music, with a short introductory course in folk dancing. Free admission.

The lecture will be spoken in Norwegian.
