Doors open: 6:30 pm
Start: 7:00 pm
Launch of a jubilee publication marking the 175th anniversary of Arne Garborg:
«Me skylde han eit minnesmerke - Arne Garborg og den frilynte ungdomsrørsla i Stavanger»
A conversation between Anders Sundsteigen Hana and Morten Vestbø about the publication, which mainly covers the period from 1900 to 1940. This was a time when BUL (the Rural Youth Association) was a cultural institution in central Stavanger and the Norwegian language movement held a strong position, with activities such as folk music, literary evenings, folk dance, dance circles, lectures, theatre performances and community support work. A piece of local cultural history from a milieu where Arne Garborg was the spiritual leader.
Performance of Haugtussa –
Text by Arne Garborg, music by Øyonn Groven Myhren.
Performers:
Øyonn Groven Myhren – vocal tradition (kveding) and lyre
Tomas Nilsson – percussion
Rasmus Kjorstad – fiddle, langeleik and Jew’s harp
After the concert, there will be an open dance floor into the early hours.
