The Heimante reading event at Mellombels has become a tradition during Garborgdagar. This year, Kjell Arild Pollestad will read from his new book and spice it up with some good stories. About Til Jæren med Pater Pollestad, the author writes:
"I have written a lot about Jæren over the years, and now, as an old man, I have put together a literary “Jæren salad” of my own texts from my bright mainland. Some of it has not been published before, especially some poems that I have sometimes enjoyed writing when I should have gone to bed. In a way, all the texts are new, because everything I have written in the “side language” is here in the language of the heart, in “her mother's language”.
Kjell Arild Pollestad is one of Rogaland's most beloved authors and lecturers. He has published over 20 books and is responsible for translations of key works of world literature, such as Snorre's Kongesagaar, Homer's Odyssey and the Bible.
This event will be spoken in Norwegian.
