Hjerteslag

Since its beginnings in Bergen's underground scene, Hjerteslag has been one of the country's very best and most popular rock bands. With vocalist Robert Eidevik's unmistakable and unique songwriting and lyrical signature at its core, the band has set the standard for melodic, noisy, and street-poetic music in Norwegian. In winter 2024, the band released their fifth studio album Betonglandskap.

When the debut singles Lasaronens Vår and Ikkje Tenk På Det were released in 2014, Hjerteslag was immediately positioned as one of the most exciting bands in Norway. That same year, few other bands generated as much hype for their concerts.

Hjerteslag’s first album, Møhlenpris Motell, was a unanimous critical success, and with the follow-up Vannmann86, the band also enjoyed commercial attention – particularly with the radio hit Sang Til Sonja, the second most played song on NRK P3 in 2016, which was also named the best song in the world (!) that year by Dagbladet.

For their third album, Nattseileren (2018), vocalist Robert Eidevik won the prestigious Edvard Prize for his lyrics.

With Tyvens Dagbok (the band’s fourth album) and the subsequent 2022 tour, Hjerteslag regained their position as one of the country’s leading rock bands. Robert Eidevik remained at the front, supported by a hungry, new line-up. Arve Isdal, Yngve Andersen, Ivar Thormodsæter, and Herbrand Larsen are well-known names from various bands and musical projects over the past decade. The quintet received excellent reviews for both the album and live performances, touring with energy and confidence.

After releasing Tyvens Dagbok in 2022, frontman Robert Eidevik entered what he describes as a new phase of life, reflecting more deeply than before and revisiting old stories from his upbringing. Like a whirlwind, he wrote song after song, and suddenly another Hjerteslag album was ready – in record time.

On Betonglandskap, Robert has built a lyrical universe around growing up among concrete blocks in a slightly worn and noisy suburban area outside Bergen. The lyrics are based on his own experiences and reflections but also tell stories that others can relate to. The songs aim to give a voice to those on the margins of society – to those struggling on the streets, and to the fight against addiction and mental illness. These are stories about finding your place alone in the world, captured in all its uniqueness.
