The legendary duo Iver Kleive (organ) and Knut Reiersrud (guitar) hardly need any introduction. For almost 30 years, they have regularly performed to packed churches and concert halls throughout Norway, and Stavanger Concert Hall is delighted to welcome them back to Stavanger in the magnificent Fartein Valen!
Based on Norwegian folk tunes, hymns and their own compositions, they have together added a new dimension to traditional church music and demonstrated their ability to create powerful and beautiful sounds in magnificent concert halls. Many people have a close relationship with their releases Blå Koral (1991), Himmelskip (1996) and Nåde over Nåde (2006). With Natt i desember, released in 2018, they present atmospheric versions of well-known Christmas songs. ‘After the Christmas album Rosa Frå Betlehem with Sondre Bratland in 1992, I was actually determined not to make any more Christmas albums,’ said Knut Reiersrud when the album was released. "But then Iver and I found so many wonderful opportunities in this December music. So far, it has served as self-therapy in an increasingly dark autumn. Now it is being released to those who want to listen. I hope there are many.‘ The album and concert feature beautiful versions of several Christmas “classics” plus some other music by Kleive/Reiersrud, including the relatively new ’Minne om en svunnen jul‘ (Memories of a Christmas Gone By) by Iver Kleive and a Yiddish folk melody entitled ’Desember i Praha" (December in Prague).
