Ævestaden (NO/SE) blends long chorales, modern lyrics, pop songs, and a soundscape unafraid of clarity, grit, electronics, or tradition.
The trio has established themselves as one of the most innovative names in modern Nordic folk music. Their debut album Ingen mere gråter (2021) earned them the Folkelarm Prize in the open category and sparked rapid attention. The follow-up Solen var bättre där (2023), released on Supertraditional, won the Manifest Gala award for Folk Music of the Year and demonstrated a trio that both expands and sharpens its artistic expression.
On 7 November 2025, they released their new album Ni blomster i en åker, receiving outstanding reviews. The album spans the intimate and the infinite – a mother saying goodbye to her child, a spaceship off course, and a world slowly decaying. Ævestaden describes it as a kind of “silent apocalypse,” yet with signs of life and renewal.
Audun Vinger of DN praises it as: “Enchanting atmospheric gothfolk from Ævestaden.” Come to Tungenes and experience it yourself – we promise a beautiful and hypnotic concert!
