Being a teacher is like being a stand-up comedian, psychologist, child educator and lecturer at the same time. Everything must be learned, not least the love you get from your students. If learning is meeting yourself, and understanding is standing in front of another person, what does responsibility for your own learning really mean?
The newly hired substitute teacher Kristian stands in front of a fifth grade class, a cross-section of society, filled with needs, expectations and dreams. But secretly he walks around with a constant inner dissolution. In meeting the ten-year-olds, he is forced to confront his own inner child, the role of teacher and the system around him.
Slam poet and actor Fredrik Høyer is one of the most original voices in contemporary theatre. He himself performs the role of substitute teacher Kristian with closeness and razor-sharp humour, in a deeply penetrating text about how we understand ourselves through the eyes of others and the roles we play in each other's lives. In a surprising way, the grey and everyday is turned into a mythical journey that concerns both you and me.
