Julerotter is a little story about two rats living in Pedersgata.

They watch all the people rushing around town, hurrying to get everything ready for Christmas. The rats themselves aren’t too concerned. They find most of their decorations in the rubbish bin, and their Christmas tree is already decorated. Only one thing is missing: where has the Christmas star gone?

Julerotter is a newly written, Ajax-inspired Christmas tale. Ajax was the literary father of Johanna, Broremann, and Ongane i gadå. He lifted the Stavanger dialect into literature, making it an important part of the city’s identity. With warm texts, social insight, and love for both the city and its language, he captured life’s small but meaningful moments. Ajax was born in Stavanger in 1909 and grew up in Vinkelgata, between Pedersgata and Fiskepiren.
