A Christmas show with speed and confidence
Tonje is in many ways Norway's Pippi Longstocking. She is the only kid in Glimmerdalen, and the toughest girl the valley has ever seen, as she races down the mountainside on skis. Now Christmas is approaching in the small valley.
Everyone likes Tonje, except for the cynical business campsite owner Klaus. He doesn't like children at all and has banned children from what he calls "Hagen-Helsecamping". Tonje's best friend is old Gunnvald, a wily fiddle player in his seventies. The two know each other inside out - or do they? One day when Gunnvald is in the hospital with a broken foot, Tonje realizes that Gunnvald has a big secret he hasn't told his best friend. Suddenly Tonje has a lot to clean up, and it becomes a struggle to save the happiness and fiddle tunes for the world's best friend, well helped by the motto: 'Speed and self-confidence'.
Tonje is not a girl who gives up easily. She knows how to take matters into her own hands and turn bad things into something good. It's not done in one, two, three. She is almost ten years old, and so wise and so smart that you would think she was a hundred! Will Tonje manage to sort out all the problems before the Christmas peace can settle down?
Tonje Glimmerdal at Teatret Vårt is a completely new performance based on the well-known and well-loved novel, and premiered in November 2024. Kjersti Sandal has written a close and atmospheric version that takes place during the Christmas holidays. Anne Wiig plays Tonje Glimmerdal with warmth, humor and action in this spectacular performance. Sindre Klykken has written the music, accompanied on fiddle by Britt Elise Skram, while set designer Dagny Drage Kleiva has conjured up a playful and imaginative world that will captivate and enchant the audience.
Maria Parr from Vanylven in Møre og Romsdal has become a superstar in modern children's literature, and it was through the book about Tonje Glimmerdal that she had her big breakthrough. One should treat one's children to a visit to Glimmerdalen! ", says the book review. The book received both the Critics' Award, the Teskjekjerring Prize and the Brage Prize for best children's and young people's book in 2009. Maria Parr has also been compared to Astrid Lindgren, and in 2024 was nominated for the Nordic Council's Children's and Young People's Literature Prize for the book Oskar and I.
Join us for a warm and action-packed pre-Christmas season in Glimmerdalen.
